Where does Mike D'Antoni go after resigning from Lakers?

By Matt Moore | NBA writer

So where does Mike D'Antoni go from here? (USATSI)

With Mike D'Antoni's resignation Wednesday night from the most prestigious coaching job in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers, there has been a substantial shift in the landscape of the league (as if the last week hasn't brought about enough vibrations). Ken Berger of CBSSports.com has laid out where the Lakers go from here. But what about D'Antoni, the offensive guru that has now flamed out in less than two years in both New York and Los Angeles?
First off, let's set this table. You can believe Mike D'Antoni is a bad coach, but you're ignoring the fact that he developed one of the greatest offensive teams of all time in the mid-2000's in Phoenix, and helped the Knicks resurgence along substantially before the Melo trade. You can believe he's a great coach but you're overlooking how truly dreadful his defenses have historically been and his inability to get star players (Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, maybe Kobe Bryant it can be argued) to buy in. That's a big part of coaching in the NBA. So like a lot of good basketball minds, it comes down to this: D'Antoni needs the right fit, where he can take low expectations and rise above, not high pressure, high expectations settings and try to reach lofty heights. You can believe you can never win a title with Mike D'Antoni, but you can't believe you won't win a lot of games with the right talent and a healthy roster.
Let's take a look at his options.
College Days
A lot of the hubub about D'Antoni moving on from the Lakers had to do with the rumors D'Antoni would be taking the job at Marshall University. And he did... but not that D'Antoni. His brother, Dan D'Antoni was hired by Marshall last week. So that's out.
Would D'Antoni want another college job? After dealing with the headache of Dwight HowardKobe Bryant, and Carmelo Anthony, you can easily imagine D'Antoni embracing the less-star-driven system in college where coaches have not only more autonomy, but substantially more job security if they are successful.
But would his system translate? That's where it becomes doubtful. College players are rarely great shooters, and you need to be able to shoot for D'Antoni's system to work. Defensively, it might benefit him since the offensive execution is so much lower for other teams, it might mitigate his lack of emphasis at that end. The ball movement could help, and more college teams are using pick and roll, so that element could be incorporated.
Mostly, though, his mantra of how the ball finds energy and how movement is vital could bring huge rewards. It's late in the coaching search for this season, but if D'Antoni wanted to take some time off, this could be a great option next season.
Back to the NBA Grind
Let's say he wants to go back to work immediately. He's being set free at the right time. Three jobs opened up in the last month (Utah, New York -- though that's clearly not happening -- and Minnesota) and others are still being decided or have interim coach situations. The pickings aren't terrific for D'Antoni, yet. A few of the scenarios:
Detroit Pistons: This one is on surface, the best fit. Mostly from the perspective of "it can't get any worse." D'Antoni needs a team with talent that doesn't seem great, to make them great, not a superstar team like LA or New York. This fits. He could work magic with Brandon Jennings, as all point guards thrive under D'Antoni. He could get Josh Smith out in transition more, and while the three-big combo is awkward for D"Antoni (and he might not like Greg Monroe's game much), the pick and roll game with Andre Drummond would be incredible. Throw in the potential to develop Kentavious Caldwell-Pope as a shooter and the possibility of having some say in basketball ops under a new regime, and this fits pretty great.
Utah Jazz: Probably not happening based on the fact that GM Dennis Lindsay is a Spursdisciple and it's hard to see them going outside the Pop tree for a coach. But if they were interested, it would be a good fit. Trey Burke would flourish under D'Antoni, they have cap space, athletic bigs, and a quieter media situation. If D'Antoni wants stability, this situation works pretty well.
Minnesota Timberwolves: Another intriguing option. The up and down game would work well with their personnel, Kevin Love would enjoy the offensive creativity, Ricky Rubio would thrive, and D'Antoni's schemes provide spacing to make even poor shooters better. It doesn't solve their defensive issues, but it also might be so much fun for Love to play in that system it might not matter.
Other possible options. The New Orleans Pelicans have a great roster, and would likely thrive offensively with D'Antoni, but they really don't want to waste the defensive potential of that squad with D'Antoni, particularly Anthony Davis. Additionally, GM Dell Demps is a Spurs guy and there has yet to be any indication that Monty Williams will be fired.
The Washington Wizards are a great fit, but considering Randy Wittman has just earned the franchise's first playoff series victory in a good, long time, notoriously loyal owner Ted Leonsis is likely to extend Wittman until the end of time.
There's been no indication that D'Antoni would be interested in a job overseas, but he does have substantial experience in Euroleague play.
Rest Mode
D'Antoni's best option might be to take a year off. Get healthy, unwind, relax, do some TV work and wait for the right situation to come his way. He seemed pretty happy being off until the Lakers job came available. The big key for D'Antoni should be to find a team without megastars that he can mold, a team with low expectations so he can get back to surprising people with how good his teams can be rather than flailing under the weight of expectations. He also needs to learn to bite the bullet on playing non-veterans and developing a young team. He has a lot of potential with a super-athletic team but always resists that.
Oh, and a good idea for him in his year off? Writing a book about what went on with the Lakers. That alone would make him a huge name again.

Rob Ford beat pal Sandro Lisi on night of crack video, claims man who shot it

Drug dealer who recorded new video says the mayor pummelled the friend charged with extortion over trying to retrieve the first video. Lisi was “crying like a baby.”

In this still from a video posted on YouTube, Mayor Rob Ford sits with friend Alexander "Sandro" Lisi at an apparently friendly meeting at the Steak Queen restaurant in January, the same night a video showed Ford slurring and ranting in Jamaican patois.

Mayor Rob Ford assaulted friend Sandro Lisi and repeatedly used a highly offensive racial slur on the night he was filmed smoking crack cocaine, according to the 20-year-old drug dealer who shot the recent video.
Ford repeatedly used the n-word to refer to the drug dealer, and described former Toronto Community Housing boss Eugene Jones, whom he supports, with the same word, the man alleged.
“No n----- gets fired in my town. When I get re-elected that n----- is going to be back in charge,” Ford said, according to the dealer’s account of the night.
The Star met the 20-year-old man and an associate Thursday in Kingston. The man spent two hours going over his account of the night.
He also played three videos totalling eight minutes that he surreptitiously filmed between 12:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. on Saturday in Kathy Ford’s home.
Dennis Morris, Ford’s criminal lawyer, said he had no knowledge of the alleged remarks and could not comment. He also said he was unaware that his client got into an altercation with Lisi.
Lisi has been charged with extortion for allegedly trying to retrieve an earlier video showing the mayor smoking crack and making homophobic and racially charged comments. The mayor has remained publicly loyal to his friend.
Neither Lisi nor Lisi’s lawyer responded to requests for comment. The Star could not reach Kathy Ford.
The 20-year-old man described himself as a friend of Kathy Ford, who is 53. He said he has an involvement in the drug world but balked when a Star reporter called him a drug dealer.
“I’m just following the paper (money) like everybody else in the world,” he said.
The video viewed by the Star clearly shows Lisi, Rob Ford and Kathy Ford. It does not record the alleged beating of Lisi but does show Ford inhaling from a homemade pipe passed to him by Kathy, who has struggled with drug addiction. A cloud of white smoke is spread as Ford inhales and exhales.
The microphone on the man’s iPhone was not working and only white noise is heard.
The Star did not pay any money to view the video.
In his account of the evening, the drug dealer alleges that Ford three times got Lisi down and pummeled him until Kathy Ford intervened .
“Poor Sandro was crying like a baby,” the dealer said, describing Lisi down on the ground, protecting his face as blows rained down on him from Ford.
“Leave him be, Robbie,” the man recalled Kathy saying.
“He’s the mob,” Ford said, getting up off Lisi.
“Oh right,” Kathy said, rolling her eyes, the man said.
Ford’s use of racist language in public and in private was a concern for his staff during his mayoralty, former aides told the Star last year during the turbulent weeks after news emerged of the first video showing the mayor smoking crack cocaine.
“I don’t think he believes it’s offensive,” said one former staffer, speaking on condition that his name not be used.
On Monday, an apparently impaired Ford was recorded at an Etobicoke bar making disparaging remarks about Italians in audio obtained by the Toronto Sun.
In the recording, the mayor mentions “a dumb f---ing w-p over there.”
“Sorry, is that racist? Sorry. If you don’t get a shot in two seconds I’ll knock your f---ing teeth out. No, no, I don’t want that f---ing d-go down there to start.”
Sources last year told the Star such vulgar language was not uncommon for Ford in private conversations overheard by staff.
“These are all words we have heard,” said a onetime employee, pausing for a breath before reeling off a list of objectionable epithets that refer to blacks, Jews, Pakistanis, Indians, Poles and Italians.
Another ex-aide, who also requested anonymity, confirmed that he has heard Ford use each of those derogatory terms.
Ford’s lawyer, Morris, said he could not comment on the allegations.
“I can’t comment because you don’t identify (the sources),” said Morris, adding he has no way to confirm the information is “authentic.”
He questioned whether the comments could have been “cherry-picked” to portray Ford in a negative way.
“It’s very hard to comment when I don’t have the full picture before me,” he said.
The mayor’s brother, Councillor Doug Ford, did not respond to a request for comment.
In the infamous video of Ford smoking crack cocaine revealed by the Star last May, the mayor is heard referring to the black football players he used to coach as “just f---ing minorities.”
Similarly, on the mayor’s St. Patrick’s Day bender in 2012, he called a cab driver an ethnic slur as mortified aides sat beside him in the taxi.
This week, insiders told the Star that Ford is usually careful around more senior staff and other politicians, but he lets loose when hanging out with his friends or in front of younger aides — especially when under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Last January, he was secretly recorded at the Steak Queen restaurant spewing profane, expletive-laden insults at Police Chief Bill Blair, whose officers had been investigating the mayor’s activities and associations.
Bizarrely, Ford was speaking in a heavy Jamaican accent and using patois.
“F---ing Chief Blair,” he said. “They chase me around for five months … you know how much that costs?”
“‘Bro’, we’re counter-surveilling you, guy.’ You know what I mean? He’s hiding here, I’ma hide here. I’ma hide…”
Ford also said “c---sucker” before ranting about Blair, using Jamaican expletives.
He later explained that he and his pals often use patois.
The drug dealer described how he came to be at Kathy Ford’s home Friday night. She had called him to come over and “meet the mayor,” the man said.
The drug dealer alleged he walked down to the basement to find Ford already impaired and that Ford immediately “puffed out his chest and acted like he wanted to fight me.”
Ford then asked the man to “feel my muscles,” the dealer said.
The dealer alleged that when Kathy intervened in the attack on Lisi, Ford pushed and kicked his sister before backing off. He alleged that she then lit up a crack pipe.
“Give me some of that,” Ford allegedly said, and grabbed the pipe.

Snapchat Steps Up Its Game With Sophisticated New Messaging Features

Snapchat rolled out its biggest update yet Thursday, in a move that added text messaging and video chatting to its photo and video sharing app.
The latest version of the app focuses on helping its users have conversations, rather than just one-off picture and video messages.
"Until today, we felt that Snapchat was missing an important part of conversation: presence," the company wrote in a blog post. "There’s nothing like knowing you have the full attention of your friend while you’re chatting."
Following a slight delay in the app's rollout, the new Snapchat is now available to all iOS and Android users. Here's our first impression of how the new features stack up.

A new look

Before you even dive into the new chat and video features, it's obvious Snapchat has given much of the app a facelift.
Many of the app's icons and buttons have been redesigned and and the entire user interface has been given some much-needed polish. The menus, which you still navigate via swipes, are cleaner and less cluttered. The font has also been changed to a smaller, more subtle typeface.
Snapchat menus

Snapchat's latest app has redesigned menus that are cleaner and less cluttered.
IMAGE: SNAPCHAT
While Snapchat couldn't be reached to confirm this feature, the camera itself also appears to have been improved — likely to accommodate the new video chatting features — which would be somewhat of a departure from previous versions of the apps, which were intentionally lower quality.
"The images might be a little grainy, and you may not look your best, but that's the point. It's about the moment, a connection between friends in the present, and not just a pretty picture," Snapchat's previous App Store description read.

Text messaging

One of the biggest changes to the app is the addition of text messaging. Previously, users could add short, 45-character notes to individual snaps, but that was the only chat-like aspect of Snapchat.
With the latest update, users can now have full-fledged conversations through the app. Simply swipe right over a contact's name from your inbox to pull up a conversation view.
Notably, the chat feature can only be accessed via the app's inbox, so text messaging only works with contacts you have exchanged snaps with in the recent past. If you want to begin messaging with someone not in your inbox, you will need to send them a normal photo or video message.
Snapchat Messaging

Snapchat's new test messaging feature includes a gesture-based camera.
IMAGE: SNAPCHAT
Photos can also be exchanged within messaging via the capture button that appears next to the text window. Single tap the button and the app takes you to the normal capture screen that will look familiar to most Snapchat users — with one major change.
The bottom left corner now includes a button that allows users to upload images from their camera roll.
This is the first time Snapchat has given users the ability to share photos not taken within the app
This is the first time Snapchat has given users the ability to share photos not taken within the app and it's only an option within text messages.

Should you hold down the yellow capture button, the app again directs you to the app's camera but one that uses gesture-based controls. Swipe up or down to switch between the device's front and rear-facing cameras and let go to capture your image.
If you want to send a photo with text overlaid, the limit is still 45 characters. As soon as you go over the character limit, the yellow capture button disappears, forcing you to either trim your message or send your message independently of the photo.
Messages disappear as soon as both users view and navigate away from the message, but individual messages can be saved by tapping on the screen.

Video chatting

The newest version of Snapchat also adds live video chatting to the app. This feature is triggered only when both users have the app open and are in the same conversation. When this occurs, the yellow capture button turns into a blue button the company is calling "here."
Hold down the here button and the app begins to record video that immediately appears on the other user's screen. As with sending photo messages in text chats, you can toggle between your device's front and rear-facing cameras by swiping up or down on the screen.
Live Video Snap

Snapchat's new live video chatting features allows users to share videos of what's going on around them in real time.
IMAGE: SNAPCHAT
Unlike FaceTime or other video calling apps, the phone doesn't ring and there is no "answer" button when someone initiates a video call. The video simply appears and the other user can choose whether or not to activate it on their end as well.
In keeping with the ephemeral theme Snapchat is known for, let go of the button and the video immediately disappears from the screen.
As far as video quality, the video the other user receives isn't exactly the HD quality of other apps like FaceTime, for example, but it's pretty good — especially considering it's in real time — and, as with the overall camera quality for still images, appears to be an improvement over the previous versions of the app.
Compared to this reboot, the old Snapchat, with its simple design and emphasis solely on disappearing photos, seems a bit immature. With the newest update, the company has managed to build a surprisingly powerful messaging platform that manages to feel true to the app's roots.
Snapchat's newest app is available now on iOS and Android.

May Day marches: Violence after peace

Peaceful march attended by thousands followed by chaotic demonstration by dozens
Updated 1:33 am, Friday, May 2, 2014

Protesters start a fire at Broadway and East Pine Street during a May Day anti-capitalist march Thursday, May 1, 2014, in Seattle, Wash. Marchers called for an end to capitalism and protested Seattle Police officers. Photo: JORDAN STEAD, SEATTLEPI.COM / SEATTLEPI.COM

(Ed. note: This report contains graphic language.)
A peaceful May Day turned into a long, violent evening, with some among hundreds of "anti-capitalist" protesters clashing with police, banging on cars, setting fires and smashing a bus window as they marched through Capitol Hill and downtown Seattle.
Seattle police made nine arrests. One suspect allegedly threw a brick at officers. Police confiscated a gun from another suspect. They used pepper spray on a bottle-throwing crowd in Belltown.
Among other things hurled at police: Firecrackers, a beer can and spit.
The violence came after thousands of marchers marked International Workers' Day with a peaceful walk from Judkins Park to Westlake Park in downtown Seattle. That march was not marred by fights with police and vandalism, as it had been in 2012.
But as the sun began to set, "anti-capitalist" protesters gathered in Capitol Hill. During their long, aimless-feeling, round-trip march to and from the neighborhood, protesters tried to enter Interstate 5.
They tried to protest at the Youth Services Center, but were repelled by police. They stopped in front of the KIRO building in Belltown and got angrily excited about "corporate media." They yelled at a window, someone suggested they smash it, and then everyone left.
Protesters looked hot and sweaty in hoodies and bandanas, on a day when the temperature hit a record 85 degrees in Seattle.
"I believe in transformative justice and community accountability," said one masked anti-capitalist, who marched with a big, pink banner that simply said "Fuck off."
"These cops that are surrounding us right now are just the later generations of the slave catchers that caught slaves before; you know, it's just a continuation. It's modern-day slavery and that's what we're fighting against."
Earlier in the evening, the demonstration felt like a wandering summer street party, but with bad music and surly people. They lobbed a beach ball. A trio pushed a sound system on wheels, and a man banged un-rhythmically on a skillet swinging from his shoulder.
Demonstrators walked into traffic, swarmed drivers stuck in the crowd and beefed with photographers, police officers and at least one masked "superhero."
The march had worried business owners in downtown and Capitol Hill, where May Day vandals have damaged property in the past. Many stores closed early and increased security. Thursday's protesters smashed a Metro bus window, but largely left businesses alone.
"Our number one priority is where anyone can march and protest and get their message out in a safe way," said Seattle Police Capt. Chris Fowler earlier in the evening, as he walked calmly down Sixth Avenue, behind the crowd. The police presence was massive, with officers on bikes, in riot gear, from other agencies, and ready by the busload.
"At some point, they'll get tired of doing what they're doing and end up going home."
By late night, the crowd did seem more tired and irritable, even while chanting, "All cops are bastards." Many sat in the middle of an intersection in Capitol Hill, which was probably a nice break after shouting and walking for four hours in the heat.
There were complaints that the people in Walgreens were "assholes" because there were no public restrooms. The beach ball had turned flabby.
But when protesters set Dumpsters on fire in the middle of Broadway and Pine, many declared victory. They chanted, "We won tonight."
The arrested suspects, all men, range in age from 17 to 37. Their arrests covered alleged property damage, obstruction, malicious mischief and five assaults.
Last year, police arrested 18 people from a crowd that pelted them with rocks and bottles.
Seattle police noted a marked uptick in anti-authority rhetoric leading up to this year's May Day events, said Fowler, in charge of the department's response to the demonstrations.
The Associated Press and Seattlepi.com reporter Levi Pulkkinen contributed to this report.

Make Windows 7 Run Faster

Easy and Free Steps to Make Windows 7 Faster

Add caption

How to make Windows 7 faster? Here are the 22 easy and free steps to make windows 7 faster and faster. I combined these methods from my experience and experiments which worked much better in improving windows 7 performance.  These following steps can be done by any Windows 7 user and not required third party or paid software and extra technical knowledge.

Network is a major factor of deciding a OS speed. Slowness in networking directly affect speed of Windows 7. There for I have added some tweaks to improve windows 7 network performance also.
Continue reading the easy 22 ways to make windows 7 faster.

1)     Make Windows 7 Start up faster by removing unwanted programs and services from startup.

To do this type ‘ msconfig‘ in Run or Search box, go to Startup tab and uncheck programs and services not required during start up. The programs and services listed here start with Windows 7 every time so by removing them we can reduce Windows 7 startup time. Do not remove any necessary startup programs.

2)     Disable Aero Experience

If you are not an appearance lover but a performance lover then disable aero experience in windows 7. This method defiantly affects the performance of Windows 7. You can gain some physical memory and display card work load for programs by disabling aero.
Right Click on Desktop, go to Personalize then select any of ‘Basic and High Contrast Themes’.

3)     Increase Virtual Memory ( Paging File)

Windows 7 consumes more memory than Windows XP but lesser than Windows Vista. If you are a heavy computer user who open more programs and windows then you can increase Virtual Memory of Windows 7. Virtual memory works with physical memory ( RAM).  Hard disk space will be used as virtual memory to keep temporary information which very rarely use by programs and OS. By increasing Virtual memory in Windows 7 computer make sure programs and OS work smoothly.
Right Click on My Computer, select Properties. Go to Advanced tab and click on setting button under ‘Performance’.Go to Advanced tab in next window, press change button under virtual memory.
Here you can see the current virtual memory size. Virtual memory called ‘paging file’ also.
In next screen under custom size enter size you want to allocate for virtual memory (paging file). It depends on your hard disk size and physical memory.  Make sure it’s not less than system recommended size. Normally recommended paging file is 1.5 of physical RAM. In this example recommended size of virtual memory is 4605MB because my windows 7 RAM is 3GB. So, enter 4605MB in Initial size and Maximum Size fields.
Press Set button, you may need to restart computer.

4)     Disable Visual Effects

Again if you are not an appearance lover of Windows 7 then disable visual effects. It will reduce the load on RAM and VGA.
In same settings tab under performance (mentioned in step 3), go to Visual effects and set for Adjust best performance.  It will bring all visual effects to very standard level, but to better performance.

5)     Windows 7 Disk Clean up

Remove unwanted and temporary files on your Windows 7 disks. It reduces access time on system and your files to make Windows 7 faster.
Right click on each disk, go to properties and press Disk Cleanup button. In next screen you can select file types to delete and start clean up.

6)     Defragment disks

Defragmentation helps to improve access time for each file by managing  free space and arranging file locations on disks. It’s recommended to run defragmentation tool very frequently especially when you have lot of data. In our case after deleting unwanted files by disk cleanup in previous step run defragmentation now.
Go to Properties of each disk, select defragmentation under tools and start. Defragmentation takes time depends on size of partition and data.

7)     Run Error-Checking on disks

This is another method to improve performance of disk. It will check and correct any system files or physical disk errors on Windows 7 computer.
Select Error-check under tools in each disk with both options selected. If the particular partition is a system, boot or having paging file then error-checking will start in next boot.

8)     Disable Side Bar (Gadgets)

If you don’t use side bar and gadgets in windows 7 then remove them. This helps to gain some resources on RAM, Network and Processor. Read more about Windows 7 side bar gadgets and how to remove them.

9)     Disable Windows Defender

When you use third party protection software such as Norton, AVG, MacAfee…etc, then disable windows defender. It does almost the same job. So it’s not required to run two similar programs in same time which is a unwanted system load for Windows 7.
You can disable Windows defender in control panel.

10) Disable UAC

UAC (User Access Control) is a window pop ups for administration tasks and requires action.UAC in Windows 7 does not irritate you as Windows Vista, but still you can work faster if you disable UAC.

11) Make Window 7 shutdown faster

You can make windows 7 shutdown faster by editing one registry key.  Read more here about editing registry key and make windows 7 shutdown faster. I consider this step also to make windows 7 faster.
Setting it to a lower 4 digit value, (say 5000) will make your PC shutdown faster, but you could end up losing data.

12) Disable Autotuning in Windows 7 Network

This option helps lot in Windows 7 network. If you face slowness in windows 7 network then you must do this.

13) Remove RDC to improve Windows 7 Network

Remove RDC additional network feature to improve data transfer speed over windows 7 network. Read more here

14) Remove IPv6

Remove IPv6 from Windows 7 network adapter settings if it’s not required.  If you are not using IPv6 in internal or external networks then remove IPv6 to improve Windows 7 network performance.

15) Compatibility of drivers and programs

Before install any drives or programs make sure it’s compatible with Windows 7. It should be officially supported for Windows 7. Installing non compatible drivers and programs on Windows 7 may cause problem with system performance and crash your system.

16) Disable Indexing (Windows Search) in Windows 7.

Indexing in Windows 7 made for improve speed of Windows search. When you search a file or folder on windows search, if it’s already indexed by indexing service then results will appear immediately from indexed cache.
When you use third party indexing search programs such as Ava Finder, Google Desktop then disable windows 7 indexing service. This method avoids two programs to index your whole data and slow down disk performance.
You can find out indexing options in Control Panel -> Indexing Options -> Modify button.
Also windows search service can be disabled in Computer Services.  Go to Computer Management, Services and look for ‘Windows Search’. Set Disable to startup type and Click Apply.

17) Sync Centre Synchronization

If any network shares set to sync with your windows 7 and while it’s happening in background it affects your system very much.  During this time network and disk activity will be very high and you can’t make it out. Two options are available to avoid this issue.
a)      Remove the sync partnership.
b)      Let synchronization complete fully without any errors.
Sync Center is located in Control panel.

18) Remove Unwanted Programs

Some time we install programs for testing purpose or for one time use only. You can uninstall these type of old and unwanted programs from windows 7 computer. Even though you are not using these programs but some services and system files of these programs load in Windows 7 all the time. By completely uninstalling these unwanted programs on your computer help to improve system performance.  Programs can be uninstalled from control panel.

19) Speed up Menu Show delay time in Windows 7

Editing a registry key speeds up menu show time in Windows 7.  I suggest trying manual registry editing (2nd) method available here. So next time menus will appear more quickly than earlier and improve windows 7 performance.

20) Change the power plan to maximum performance.

This method mostly suitable for laptops. If you don’t run on battery most of the time then change the power plan to maximum performance.  This can be done in desktop computer also. To do it, go to control panel, power options and select ‘ High Performance ‘ plan and press OK.

21) Virus check with Microsoft Security Essential

Make sure your windows 7 computer is virus free. Viruses make any computers slow by giving additional work to processors, memory and disks. You can run virus check and clean viruses by free antivirus software ‘Microsoft Security Essential’ from Microsoft. Download Microsoft Security Essential here and run a scan.

22) Malicious software check and Removal

Check your Windows 7 computer for infection by specific, prevalent malicious software (including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom) and remove the infection if it is found.
Download the free latest malicious removal software for Windows 7 from Microsoft and scan now.  By removing malicious software you can improve windows 7 speed.
The above 22 free and easy tips make windows 7 faster and faster. I combined above steps which really worked in my experience and experiments.  You can find similar articles to make windows 7 faster if I miss anything in above list.
